What is out best course of action if my father was eating a burger and upon taking a bite realized that the tip of a knife was inside of the burger?

Luckily it did not hurt him and he spit it out. Our concern over a potential lawsuit is proving that this knife tip was there in the first place, as well as the lack of any actual injury. However, it should have certainly not been there and could have absolutely caused harm.

"Could have" is the same thing as saying "close, but no"--and as the old saying goes, close only counts in horseshoes and gernades. The law does not provide compensation for what *could* have happened--only what did. Without actual injury, you could not recover any money.
