What to do if my dog bit someone and now I have received a letter in the mail saying that they are pursing an injury claim against me?
They said to turn it over to my homeowner’s insurance company but I don’t have any because I rent. I need to know what to do and how can he do this when he knowingly took the risk of being injured by the dog. In fact, he and his wife still wanted the dog to go home with them.

Generally speaking, people are responsible for the behaviour of their pets, including their dog when it bites someone. Unless the man was deliberately provoking the dog to bite him, you are responsible for his injury. Try to work it out by agreeing to pay his medical bills.
