Is there a grace period after cancelation, in which an insurance company can be made to pay a claim?

My daughters friend’s car was involved in an accident; she was not driving but she was in the back seat and did give permission to the driver to drive. Her car was involved in a single car accident and badly damaged. Her insurance company had canceled her just a few days before for prior multiple claims.

No, there is no grace period in this way. If the accident had occured pre-cancellation, when the policy was still in effect, then they'd have to pay even though it had later been cancelled; but coverage stops when the policy stops, so if the policy was canceled pre-accident, the insurer does not have to pay.
