If my daughter is a high school teacher and just learned that a group of failing students has filed a complaint against her stating verbal abuse, should she retain an attorney?

The kids are all from 1 class. She can only hope that the others are brave enough to tell the truth. Should she wait for the school to complete its investigation before she seeks legal advice?

She may wish to retain an attorney right  now, since a lawyer can advise her as to what to say--and what not to say--to best protect her own interests. Assume that the school's first interest is protecting itself, not an individual teacher: the school or district may scapegoat or sacrifice her to appease parents and community members. Your daughter should get advice from someone whose first loyalty is to her.
