How do you get paid from an estate if you are an executor and have inncurred non-related fees?
My brother is the exector of an estate. He was also the contractor who did the upgrades to the home prior to selling it. he paid for materials out of the other estate funds. Does he as the exector need to have contractor fees and labor cost approved by probate prior to repaying himself from the estate or can he pay himself before the estate is settled?

Your brothe needs to submit a claim to the estate for payment of the fees he desires to be repaid for. He then lets all beneficiaries know about what he submitted and advise all that unless there are objections by anyone, he will pay himself the stated amount.
