If my mother passed 5 years ago and I just received a check in her name from a forgotten account, can I cash the check since I’m the executrix?

The estate has been settled and closed. Can I cash the check and then close the account?

If the estate has been closed then you are no longer the executrix and have no power.  The check can not be cashed unless you apply to re open the estate and re- request authority to do so.  Good luck.
