What to do if my landlord is not paying for my hotel expenses after I was forced to move out for 11 days due to a pipe flooding the apartment?

The landlord told myself and my husband on the day that the pipe burst for us to find a reasonable hotel and that he would take care of it. We touched base with him on 4 separate occasions and told him which hotel that we where at. After 11 days of hotel living he gave us the OK to move back in and now he is demanding the full months rent and he is refusing to pay the hotel bill, as well as the difference in the water bill. What is our recourse?

If your landlord stated that he wopuld pay for your hotel accomodations while the problems with the rental you were occupying were being remediated and he refuses to honor his agreement with you, I would do the following:

1. write him a letter confirming the agreement with a rent check less the amount of your hotel expenses. Keep a copy of the letter for future need and reference.

2. if the landlord refuses to agree that your rent payment is to be reduced by the costs of the hotel expenses that you incurred, and begins to make threats against you, you should consult with a landlord tenant attorney about the situation.
