What is a paent’s liability if their child has an accident while under the influence?
It’s recently come to light through pictures that when my 18 year old is with her friends there is definite alcohol consumption and possibly marijuana use. Although we certainly intend on having an in depth discussion with her about this, it has me thinking about the legal ramifications should she first be caught and charged with DUI and secondly if she were to get into an accident causing injury, disability and/or death. Is it prudent, albeit costly, to have her on her own insurance? In essence, I don’t want our life savings drained should my daughter ever be involved in the scenario previously mentioned. Is there any way to protect our assets?
