I think you want to know why, and I think you have every right to a full explanation.

I'm not an Idaho lawyer, and I have no idea what the facts of your case are, or why your lawyer might have done this -- if the public defender actually did this and you haven't been misinformed by someone, which is also possible.  Ordinarily, an attorney has to bring any kind of settlement offer to the client, for a decision, so I think that what you've heard is not exactly right.

Don't be angry, but do be insistent -- you have a right to understand and agree to decisions that are being made on your behalf.
