There is no hard and fast limit, but once the provider feels that the deductible is late--which is generally sometime after 30 days from billing has gone by, though most will wait longer--they can bring a legal action (lawsuit) to compel payment or may refer the matter to a collections agency, which itself could take legal action, if necessary. In your state, for this type of claim, legal action can be taken at least three years, possibly up to six (depending on the exact circumstances) after it was overdue.
