Is my company allowed to redirect a surveillance camera to purposely watch me while I’m working?

My company installed surveillance cameras about a year ago. They were aimed at the doors to see who was entering and exiting the building. Just yesterday they redirected the camera at my desk, I suppose to watch what I am doing. No one warned me about it. I have not had any prior trust issues before. I feel like this isn’t right and violates some privacy.

A company is allowed to use video to monitor employee's work space, even if they have not been given "cause" or a reason to do so. They can't monitor you audibly, and they can't monitor in restrooms, lockerooms, and the like, but a video camera may be aimed at an employee's desk in the office. It may not be "right," but it is legal.
