An employer may not discriminate against women due to pregnancy, which can require them to make "reasonable accomodations" for the pregnancy. A reasonable accomodation is a change in how the job is done, or the provision of some assistive technoloy or device, which lets the pregnant employee safely do her job. But the key is, she must be able to do the job for which she was hired, even with some accomodation. Therefore, if there is no "light duty" you can actually do while doing yourr job, the employer is not required to transfer you to a different job or make up aa new job or duties for you. Thus, if there is no meaningful "light duty," the employer can refuse to provide it.
