Under the laws of all states in this country, it is illegal and improper for your employer to make you pay him cash for inventory that he claims you are responsible for being short on. If your employer believes that you are being dishonest, he should simply terminate you from work. I suggest that you speak with your employer about this improper practice to try and resolve it. If not resolved, then you should consult with a labor attorney and/or a representative of your local department of labor about this matter.
