Is it illegal to use a person’s credit card if they give me permission?
I am curious to knwo if it is illegal to use a credit card that is not in my name if the cardholder told me I could use it?

If you have permission, it is not a crime, since there would be no criminal or wrongful intent. However, it is still illegal: a credit card may only be used by the person in whose name it is issued. Obviously, many vendors, etc. do not check or care, and will let the charge go through; but they are not supposed to, and do not have to accept when you offer another person's card.
