Is it illegal to possess a suspended driver’s license if you’re not using it to drive?
A cop took my license late one night and said that it was illegal to possess a suspended license but I haven’t been able to find anything to confirm that. I need the driver’s license number to sign up for state traffic school, and get my license reinstated.

I did a bit of research regarding your question as well and was unable to find any statute stating that it is illegal from a criminal standpoint to simply possess a suspended driver's license as opposed to drive a motor vehicle with a suspended driver's license.
Had the mere possession of a suspended driver's license been a crime, I would have suspected that the police officer who took it from you would have cited you for possession it or even arrested you.
I suggest that you contact the police department in the jurisdiction where the driver's license was taken from you and ask for its return. The police officer who took the driver's license most likely had to report his stop with you.
