Ohio, like many states, has implemented online solicitation statutes to prohibit sexually explicit communications between minors and adults via texting, online chatting, or any other electronic type communications. If the male was less than 18 years of age, he would have a defense. However, if the 19 year old male knows they are talking to a 14 years old, then the male could be convicted on "importuning" or online solicitation. If convicted, he would also be required to register as a sex offender for a number of years.
