Severance has nothing to do with the validity or enforceability of a noncompetition agreement, unless the agreement itself specifically ties the term or enforceability of the agreement to the severance. Noncompetition agreeements are contracts; like any other contracts, the are governed by their terms. To see when the agreement expires, review the agreement's terms; if you are unsure of how they apply in your specific circumstances (or more generally, what those terms mean), bring the agreement with you to an employment law attorney to review.
