Yes, your employer may demand you do overtime--the employer, not the employee, determines when employees must work. (Exception: if you have a written employment contract specifiying your hours, the employer must respect that.) This is one consequence of "employment at will," which is the law of this land except when there is a written contract to the contrary. If you don't work overtime when required, you can be terminated.
