What to do if 8 months ago someone vandalized my car and I witnessed the action but the case was later dimissed without notification to me?

I called the police and filed charges. The officer told me that I would be notified if I needed to appear in court as a witness. I followed up with the officer multiple times but was never notified that I was needed in court. I just now found out the case was dismissed. How can this happen and what can I do now?

What you can do now is file a civil action against the person that damaged your car if your insurance carrier has not paid you in full as to what you suffered as a loss. Unfortunately you have no say in getting the criminal matter dismissed.
