Yes, you still have to pay child support, unless and only to the extent you get a court order modifying your responsibilities. It may be possible to get such an order, based on cancer; but you definitely need to go to court, giving your child's other parent notice of the court appearance (they have to get a chance to object), and get an order. Having cancer, or any other major negative life event (like unemployment) does not automatically cause a reduction or suspension in support obligations.
