What to do if I’m being charged with M1 domestic violence for hitting someone in the arm with a plastic guitar but only bruising him?

As a plea deal they are going to lower it to an M5 with 6 months probation even though this is my first offense.

Please do not use this forum as a substitute for legal counsel in this matter.  Criminal charges like these are serious and you need an attorney there with you to guide you.  Now, in reviewing the Ohio code there is no Misdemeanor in the 5th degree.  There is a Felony in the 5th degree but you are certain that is not the charge, correct?   There is though what is called a "minor" misdemeanor after the 4th degree, which does come with it no jail time.  M1 has potential jail time and fines.  Now, you need counsel to let you know how this will all impact on your background check and future.  Get help now.
