If I accused my boyfriend of hitting me, how can I now get the charges dropped?

Actually, you can't get the charges dropped. The reason is that whether or not to drop criminal charges is the prosecutor's decision, not the victim's. Therefore, a case may be prosecuted over a victim's objection and without their cooperation so long as there is sufficient other evidence to support the charge.

The fact is, prosecutors are typically unwilling to drop these cases since they do not want offenders to think that that they can intimidate their victims so that the charges will just be dropped.
