I am so sorry for your loss.  Your status does not change becuase your husband passed away other than being his widow.  You were still his pegal spouse.  But charachterizing yourself to th child as a stp mother when he or she never knew their father my be difficult.  There really are no legal ramifications to doing so but you have no legal rights here either.   Good luck.
