Good question. If your landlord's homeowner's association has a dispute with your landlord over assessed fees for the unit you are living in and there is no court order served upon you ordering you to pay your rent to the HOA or its attorney, you are obligated contractually to continue paying your rent to your landlord pending futher notice.

Although the landlord may have a dispute with the HOA, the dispute is solely a dispute and has not been resolved. I recommend that you continue paying your rent to the landlord. If you are served with an order saying otherwise, you should consult with a landord tenant attorney about it.
