If I was working on my friend’s deck and it got scratched, am I responsible to pay for it to be fixed?
i am not a professional contractor, however he did give me some money for the work, am i legally liable to pay for the deck to be fixed? its a fiber-on deck which is like a mixer of wood and plastic which is not supposed to be painted or stained. I was mulching around the deck and my barrel scuffed and scratched the deck, he wants somebody to flip the boards and is asking me to pay for 3/5 of the cost.

It seems like the right thing to do since your friend would not have had to spend anything if it wasn't for you.
