Employers can require that an employee return to pick up their last paycheck in person. There are various reasons for doing this. For example, many times an exit interview is required and/or final paperwork must be completed by the worker. Also, in some cases, it takes time to stop direct deposits so to make sure that an accidentlal deposit is not made, a company may wish to terminate direct deposit early and write the employee a physical check.
