If I hired a company to develop a business application and they fail to deliver the product, can I sue them for lost of income and damages?

A few months ago we hired a company to develop a web site and a mobile application according to very specific specs. They had many management flaws and missed all deadlines and the product was never delivered. We agreed on a shorter version for less money, but at that time I already went over my budget with two missing launching dates. We are still negotiating an exit but at this point they caused me thousands of dollars in damage. Is it possible to sue them for negligence?
