If I get married am I responsible for any debt from my husband’s foreclosure/short sale that happened before we were married?

Currently unmarried I have excellent credit the process is still ongoing and will not be completed before we get married. Will that ruin my credit?

Under the laws of all states in this country, one spouse is not personally responsible for the debt or obligation of his or her spouse incurred prior to marriage. Given the chance of some deficiency judgment against your future spouse, I recommend that you keep your personal assets in your own name until the debt situation with any person you plan on marrying is satisfied in full.
