If I called out sick for several days, can I be required to make the time up?
I had the flu and a note from my doctor. I’m on salary.

If you used sick days you earned, you don't have to make up the time per se--though if you miss deadlines, fall behind on work, etc., you can be terminated (or disciplined). Using sick days means that the missed hours/days are covered...though the work still needs to get done.
If you did not use accrued or earned sick days, you can be required to make up the time your employer allowed you to miss.
