If I’m being sued by an old landloard for past rent, can they also add interest on top of the late fee’s?

In most states in this country, if there is a written contract setting forth late fees for a sum due, interest can be requested and even awarded assuming that the amount of damages demanded are readily calculated.

In the situation that you are writing about, it seems as though principal, late fees and accrued interest can be requested by the former landlord against you.
