If you are an hourly employee, then this is not legal. Under the labor laws e.g. the Fair Labor Standards Act, or FLSA, an hourly employee must be paid his/her hourly wage for ALL hours worked and paid overtime when working more than 40 hours in one week. You could file a complaint with the state department of labor if you are an hourly employee not paid for all hours worked.
