What are a salaried employee’s rights?

I work for a small company as a service manager and they consider me a salaried employee ($50k/year). I do not get paid for overtime hours worked, but if I were to have to take a couples hours off to take care of something personal, should my pay be docked? I do not think that I fit the full criteria of being an exempt salaried employee. What constitutes a valid reason for them to dock my pay?

No, a salaried employee's pay may not be docked for missing less than a day (e.g. a few hours) of work; a salaried employee must be paid the same for all days during the workweek. (This is the converse of a salaried employee not being paid extra for working additional hours.) If a salaried employee takes an entire day off (doesn't come in at all), then he or she does not need to be paid for that day (unless he or she used PTO to cover the time).
