If by your "mileage would docked for my insubordination," you mean that your pay or compensation wold be docked, then this is illegal an employer may not dock an employee's pay without the employee's consent, though it may well be able to discipline the employee in other ways, up to and including termination and also including demotion, reducing wages or salary, reducing hours, suspension, etc.. If the employer feels you were insubordinate, there are many things it could do, such as firing you, but it can't dock your pay.
