What to do if I was served a summons in regards to a debt?

The debt collector sent me a letter 4 months ago, in which I responded requesting validation of debt. I never heard from the debt collector until I received a summons. Can I request the debt validation in court?

You need to respond but you should first check your credit reports (you get a free one each year from each of the main three companies).  If the debt is on there, dispute the debt through the credit reporting agency, as well.  Dispute the debt in the court matter, as well.  The company must provide proof of debt; if it does not, everything must be dismissed with prejudice.
