What is a fair settlement for an injury suffered in a car accident?

I was offered a settlement of $700 and up to $1500 in medical expenses for a rear-end accident that left me in a great deal of pain. The $700 is for missed work and out of pocket costs for medication. They say the $700 should pay for 1 or 2 more doctor’s visits. However, I feel that I’m getting low-balled. This is my first accident. I was hit while I was at a dead stop and it caused me to rear-end another vehicle. is this a fair settlement?

Based on the information you provide, it does not seem fair. However, there are so many factors which affect the value of a case.  You should retain an attorney to handle this for you and guide you through the process.  Statistics show that you will recover more in the end, even after the attorney fee is removed, if you retain counsel rather than trying to handle this yourself.

The attorney providing the answer was not serving as the attorney for the person submitting the question or in any attorney-client relationship with such person. Laws may vary from state to state, and sometimes change. Tiny variations in the facts, or a fact not set forth in a question, often can change a legal outcome or an attorney's conclusion. Although AttorneyPages.com has verified the attorney was admitted to practice law in at least one jurisdiction, he or she may not be authorized to practice law in the jurisdiction referred to in the question, nor is he or she necessarily experienced in the area of the law involved. Unlike the information in the Answer(s) above, upon which you should NOT rely, for personal advice you can rely upon we suggest you retain an attorney to represent you.
