What do I do if I was in an accident and the other driver didn’t have insuranceso agreed to not file a claim but now he’s not paying up?

We made an oral agreement that he would pay out of pocket also me and him went to estimate the car together and he has a copy of the estimate but now he has been avoiding me and doesn’t want to pay up. The accident happened about a month ago is there still a chance of making a claim or would it be legal to take Jim to civil court or because I didn’t file a claim is all lost?

In Michigan, you have three years to file suit against him.  If under $3000, it is a small claims case, but if over, you must go to regular District Court.

If your insurance does not cover then taking him to court is your only option, based on your situation.
