What to do if I was given a pet as a gift from a previous relationship and my ex asked to see the pet and never returned it?

This person asked to see the dog for a couple of days and I agreed. Since then, they have not bothered to answer any of my texts, messages or phone calls. They refuse to give me back my pet. What can I do to get her back? I have asked police officer friends of mine who say that the best thing to do is take legal action.

Ask your friend to help you file a police report. You can go to small claim to sue but I am not sure it is worth your money or time to get the dog back.
