If I was wrongly accused of drinking alcohol in public and given a ticket, what should I do?

It was Saturday night down the street from a club that my girlfriend and I were about to enter. We split an energy drink to drink while we waited in line. However, we finished our beverage before we got to the line, so we threw our drinks away in a trash can close by and were stopped at that point. The cop stated that we were underage and were drinking in public. Without arguing we cooperated and signed the ticket and he was on his way. We were not tested or breathalyzed to prove we were drinking alcohol; he just looked in the trash can with his flashlight and went based on that information.
