What to do if I sold a car 3 years ago but the buyer never transferd the title out of my name?
the vehicle was abandoned on some rental property. The owner contacted me to come get the car so I did, now the previous owner I sold it to after 7 months is taking me to court. He ran 3 years of temp tags on it. Is it still legally mine?

If you sold the car, it is no longer yours and you should have told the owner of the property that called you that. Not getting the title changed is an administrative violation that has it's consequences, but loss of ownership is not one of them. You need to return the vehicle to avoid a theft charge or UUMV charge and then go down to the title office to fill out the paper work advising them that the car has been sold. Whenever you sell a vehicle you want to file this document so that if something happens with the vehicle after it leaves your possession that everyone knows you have severed your involvment with the vehicle.
