What to do if I slipped and fell on a broken step that was covered in black ice?

I rent the house. Does their property insurance cover the bills that my insurance does not? They were told about the broken step.I broke my 3 bones in my ankle and had to have surgery; plates and screws were put in. It does not bend well and I haven’t been able to do my job for 7 months.
