If the stairs were in good repair, no issues, just standard 'ole stairs, then no, the complex would not be responsible fo the hospital visit because there was nothing they did that contributed to your accident. If the stairs were in poor condition or had something that made them potentially defective or dangerous-- and you can show that condition contributed to you slipping, then yes you could sue the complex and have them pay for your hospital visit. One of the main components of any personal injury cause of action is proving that something happen because of another party's actions or inactions.
