If I received an eviction notice today, what can I do about this?

I have been renting a house for the past almost 2 years. I put a deposit of $10,000 when I moved in and we were set to move out in 5 months. Recently we have had trouble with the stove (it was not working doe 3 months). Also, we’ve had no microwave and no dishwasher for several months. We stopped paying rent last months and spoke with the owners telling them we would be moving out on the 15th.of next month.

I am unsure where in the proceeding this notice is.  Were you given notice to pay or quit or has that happened and you were served with a petition for eviction?  Sounds like the former.  Once you do not pay or leave then they will formally evict you.  If you have been denied essential services like the stove the proper thing to di after notice to your landlord was to start an action in court. Stopping paying rent was not the right thing to do.  I would speak with a lawyer asap given the huge deposit.  Good luck.
