What rights do i have regarding an electric easement?

What rights do i have regarding an electric easement?

Ww own 30+ acres of land. There is a 15 foot on each side of poles easement. They came to change a pole that needed replaced and said a crew world be out later to cut all the trees down to the ground. I made them leave without replacing pole. We are trying to work with the electric company on moving the poles. I don’t even want them on my property. Do save some of the trees they can move the pole at our expense. which will be thousands of dollars. He is saying that these poles have been here for so long they don’t have the records for the easement except the easement itself. They will not trim.

Assuming your property is burdened by an electrical easement, I suggest that you go down to the county recorder's office and obtain a copy of the easement. When done, read the document carefully in that it sets forth what the person or entity owning the easement can do with respect to your land.

If the easement does not allow the right to cut trees, then possibly cutting down tress on your property will not be allowed. I suggest that you consult with a real estate attorney experienced in easements to ascertain what the easement holder can do and not do concerning your property.
