You can filed for yourself. CA has self-help sites jsut for this purpose. Here is a link to a site that will be of help: www.courts.ca.gov/selfhelp-divorce.htm That having been said, since a minor child is involved, you may want to consult with an attorney. Also, since money is an issue, you can see if you qualify for representation by Legal Aid. You can also see if there is a law school in your area as they typically run legal clinics that take such cases. Additionally, you can check with your city/state bar asscociation and see if they have a list of attorneys who will represent you "poro bono" (i.e. for free) depending on your income/circumstances.
