If I missed a court date for a case I had for retail theft, what do I do next in order to avoid a warrant or any further consequence?

It would be advisable to call the court to find out what you will need to do to resolve the matter. Most likely, you will have to pay a large fine. The judge has the discretion to reduce the fine, but you will need a very persuasive argument as to why you failed to appear in court. A bench warrant was probably issued for your arrest for failure to appear.
