If my husband has filed for divorce, can he ask for my wedding ring back?
Is this not considered a gift to the wife? By law do I have to give it back?

Generally speaking, yes, you are correct: it is a gift and it is yours alone. As is his wedding ring his gift alone from you. Now, I would double check the law in your state as to the matter because some states do waiver far from this general rule. And even if he asks you tell him no. Let a Judge tell you otherwise. Good luck.
