The deposition is under oath; so, you must tell the truth. If you don't tell the truth at the deposition where you are under oath, you could be liable for perjury. You will be questioned at the deposition about your different versions of the auto accident and will need to explain why you have provided different versions. This will be used to impeach your credibility. The transcript of your deposition is admissible evidence at trial if the case reaches the trial stage. Again at trial, your inconsistent statements will be used to impeach your credibility. Most cases settle without going to trial.
Your previous false statement could also raise questions about your overall testimony in the case and your reliability. This may adversely affect the outcome of the case.
