More information is needed here.  But I can give you some general information. If your Dad was married and all the assets he held were also jointly held with his wife then they passed to her automatically upon his death.  Any assets left over would pass by his Will or if he died without a Will, through intestacy statutes in your state.  I hope that this helped and please write back with specifics if you need more information.
