I hit an unattended vehicle and left the scene, should I hire a lawyer?

This is my first misdemeanor.

Yes, I would strongly retain a criminal defense attorney.  My biggest concern is regarding your exposure for restitution.  My concern in these cases is that folks will be ordered to pay restitution in the criminal case that far exceeds the actual damages from the victim, but fail to challenge it and forever waive their right to appeal the issue.  My firm has handled many of these issues and offers free case consultations.

Given what you have written about since there seemingly may be a criminal investigation against you for misdemeanor hit and run, retaining a criminal defense attorney would be in your best interests in trying to get the matter resolved as opposed to proceeding without legal counsel.
