You're smart to turn yourself in.  Going in voluntarily will go a long way in your favor.

If you can hire an attorney who practices in the area I would do so.  He will know the judge and prosecutors and can best arrange for all of this.  Whether or not you will lose your job I cannot say.   For one thing I don't know the severity of the offense that you were on probation for nor the extent of your violation.  If you are just behind in fines, you may have your probation reinstated so that you can keep working to pay them off; then again you may not.  A lot will depend on why you got behind in your fines in the first place.  Your attorney can best advise you.  Even if you do get jail time for how long remains the question.  If it's for a few days you can probably just call in sick to work; if it's for more than that you will have to deal with it then.

Best of luck.  You are definitely doing the right thing in dealing with this.
